Working at home is a viable option for parents who want to homeschool. Some parents need extra income to provide for the necessities of food, clothing, shelter and transportation. Others simply want money to pay for extras, like books, supplies, field trips and activities. Here are some steps to working and homeschooling.

Steps

Determine your goals. What do you need income to pay for? How much income do you need to earn?

Determine what it will take to reach your goals. How many hours will you need to work in order to earn the money you need?

Decide what type of work at home position you want. Do you want to start your own business, join a network marketing company, or work a traditional job from home?

Research the companies in your field of interest to make sure they are providing a legitimate opportunity.

Make sure you understand the benefits and responsibilities of the positions that interest you. What is the pay and benefits structure? How will you be trained? Will you schedule your own hours? Is there a minimum number of hours that you are required to work?

Find out what costs are associated with the position. What technical equipment and supplies will you need? Does the company help pay these costs?

If possible, talk to current employees to find more information about the pros and cons of the position.

Put a desk or table, computer, telephone, calendar and office supplies in a quiet, comfortable area of your home to serve as your home office.

Declutter your home so you can clean up quickly and easily.

Create a flexible schedule that gives you a guide to follow for each day. Include work, home and family duties in your schedule.

Choose a homeschooling method that fits your families needs. You may want a highly structured curriculum that allows older children to work alone or an unstructured program that permits you to teach through everyday activities.

Ask for help. Let friends and relatives teach your children subjects they enjoy. Let your child ride to and from activities with other home school moms. Don’t be afraid to pay for part-time help with housework and childcare.

Tips

Set specific hours for your work day. Stop working when those hours are over. Don’t let work overshadow your obligations to home and family.

Teach your children to help you with housework and work independently while you are working.

Be creative. Teach on weekends or in the evenings, and take lessons with you as you travel to and from events.

Find ways to home school inexpensively in order to reduce the amount you need to earn for curriculum.

Warnings

Be careful not to take on too many commitments outside of your home in order to reduce stress and keep your family from becoming too busy.

Your home school does not have to resemble a traditional classroom. Choose a schedule and curriculum that will work for you.

Have you ever wondered how to stay strong in your faith when the others did not? Maybe your friends are doing things that you feel your loving God would not approve of. You can preserve your religious morality and faith without alienating your friends.

Steps

Make sure that you have a strong and firm relationship with your God, so that you don’t fall while others do. Sticking to your religious teachings may be more difficult in middle and high school as peer pressure increases, but you can influence your other friends and classmates who are acting immorally.

Do not be afraid to say “no.” Suppose that your friends are going to a party to drink. You think to yourself that you will just stay with the people who aren’t drinking and still go and enjoy the party. That is really not something you want to try. You might arrive at the party to find all of your closest friends drinking, and you might think about having a little. Consider whether you want to be in a situation like that.

Remind yourself of your faith before you have any experience that may end in immorality. You can pray or have a conversation with God. What would s/he advise you to do in this situation? Sometimes, it will be best to skip the activity altogether. Other times, you will be able to retain your values even when others may be acting immorally. You will have to judge for yourself.

Know when to break ties with your friends. Remember that a true friend will respect your decisions. Ask yourself whether what they’re trying to force you to do will permanently compromise your morality. Sometimes, you’ll be better off without your friends as bad influences. Other times, keeping the love and support your friends give will be worth it, even if you sometimes have to say “no” or disagree with them. Respect their beliefs, and if they are true friends, they will respect yours. Meditate on the matter and decide whether your confused friends will help or hurt you in the long run.

Be comfortable with who you are and your faith, even if you’re not the most popular person in school. Some people do not understand the word “no.” Surround yourself with people who respect you and your beliefs and decisions.

Wear something to remind you that God is there for you and that you should take time to listen to him and remind you to thank God.

Try wearing something like a bracelet or a special ring or necklace.

Try using 7 and/or 3 7s for “God” and “The Trinity” to be mindful of God’s blessing and for faith — but not for luck (not for magic).

Tips

Get involved with local religious groups and make some friends with similar beliefs to your own who can help you in these situations even in dangerous parts of the world.

Have a quiet time to reflect. Be sure to make time for it.

Find ways to enjoy the morals your religion promotes. It’s possible to have fun without violating your morals!

If you attend a church or find one, find out what services it offers. The best place to find out this information is at the office during business hours.

Depending on which denomination you are (if any), most will have a schedule as to when, what, and where. Most offer a variety of services outside of their regular ones, such as a prayer meeting, men’s Bible class, or young adults meeting.

Read the scriptures relevant to your religion such as the Bible and pray or meditate in God’s word.

Watch the spiritual channels on television and listen to the radio ones.

Phone books offer the best starting place if you’re not familiar with the area.

Can you avoid sabotaging your own and the life of your child and family–surely! How?… by your ways! See, the paths your parents chose brought blessing (good) or bad results upon your family and your way of life: their work or even avocations and talents, skills and abilities that did or did not develop well, education and health, etc. affect yours as you are raised well (or not), or you may have your life spoiled (with personal, and family, problems)… The steps of a person who is in a better path (that you choose in your own way of life) may be orderly even for children and grandchildren, as you and God break curses just like chains–(bad choices)–off your family. What does that mean to your siblings and family. The problems are not broken off your brothers or sisters, parents, or uncles and aunts families by your decisions, as they must work out their own pathways (and activities by their choices)… So they as you, must be “right and broken“ from of the curse on your life–your own and/or your family’s and even historical wrongdoings in your other persons’ choices–and then you and they may begin to follow the Lord “proactively,” in any ways that you each decide–but how do you manage your own new life?

Steps

Examine whether it is just to say: “I accept my responsibility!” and then verbally praising God. No! Not just that! It comes from goodwill and God’s plan and yours being activated in agreement–put into action: actualized as you progress.

The Lord will remember His own (Is that you?) even to the End of Time, and your family may be blessed (or cursed) to second and third generations.

God is worthy of all praise and honor, and if you glorify God by living according to His plan, then you will be blessed–even in this life.

Live this “Good News” in your flesh… and pass it on to bless others. How?

Repent of your own wrongdoings and “ask Jesus to save you.”

Help your family to find the energy needed to be blessed through your choices and influences on others through you “and yours.”

Take the Good News yourself: Go into your world–first outside your gate or door–and teach/share this good motivation to every creature; thus you glorify the Lord.

Lift up the Lord by your living and passing it on: Jesus said, “If I be lifted up I will draw all mankind to me!”

Bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. (Psalm 95:6)

Worship the Father in spirit and in truth: [not in word or deed only] for the Father seeks such to worship Him. (John 4:23)

Sing songs of His perfect law in your house in a foreign land: remember the name of the LORD, in the night, and keep His law. (Psalm 119:54,55)

Give to the LORD the glory due to His name: and bring an offering when you come into His courts.

Fear Him, in all your ways, and worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. (Psalm 96:8,9)

He is Unmoved: Unchangeable rock of ages;

He is Undefeated: Conquerer and Champion of saving souls that are called to repent;

He is a Healer: “He was wounded for our transgressions [trespasses], he was bruised for our iniquities [sins]: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes [accepting our pain on himself] we are healed.” (Isiah 53:5)

He is First and Last: without Beginning or End, the Creator and Keeper of your soul!

He is Architect: of the universe and Lord of all time: He always was; He always is and shall be…

Magnify Him: Armies can’t defeat Him; science can’t explain Him, leaders can’t ignore Him!

Give all honor to the Father: New Age religion can’t replace Him, and no one can ever explain Him away!

Tips

Trust God: A Christian life is a supernatural life, a life that goes against the world. Unless you trust Him for grace, you will trust in your own resources, and eventually you’ll fail.

He took your punishment: He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb [peacefully] to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opens not his mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. (Isiah 53:7,8)

Warnings

“When you think that you stand beware lest you fall. Pride which will not allow you to glorify God leads to destruction and a haughty spirit goes before a fall.”(1 Corinthians 10:12)

“The fool refuses to glorify God and even has said in his heart [from his core being]: ‘there is no God.’”(Psalm 14:1)

He shall be ashamed when he stands and is judged by the one just judge of all things, and persons great and small.

You should not harm the innocent, but do good and not judge falsely: “And God, looking on the earth, saw that it was evil: for the way of all flesh had become evil on the earth.”(Genesis 6:12)

God saw that it was not some people or some nations but that all mankind were capable of and guilty of unacceptable evil and corruption.

Be aware that as you glorify God “people will be surprised that you do not run with them into the same confusion and rioting, so they speak evil of you!”(1 Peter 4:4)

As an adult you may become self impressed, like you have finished growing, not allowing God or His followers to teach you to adapt to new things, i.e.: learn to use technology for God’s plan.

You need to learn to shift into willingness to be like new, full of a new confidence, leaning forward toward the future, but not coming from your own deficit, but unified with other believers with God, not alone, not in your own strength.
